Shonen Knife (“少年 / shōnen” (=boy) knife) is a three-woman punk band formed in Osaka in 1981. This kind of music wasn’t very mainstream in Japan, but they became popular in the US and UK, especially after touring with Nirvana, which also made them famous in Japan. “Banana Chips” is a song from their 1998 album Happy Hour, and it was also tied to a kids’ anime Anime Shūkan DX! Mi-Pha-Pu. The album cover features artwork by Yoshitomo Nara wiki, an artist who later gained popularity.

“…に限るね / ni kagiru ne” (=It is limited to …) is an idiomatic phrase that means something is the best.

“あった / atta” is the past tense of “ある / aru” (=exist). The typical exclamation when you find something you’re looking for is “Atta!”. “よ / yo” is an exclamatory sentence-ending particle.
“ひっそり / hissori” is an onomatopoeia meaning quietly or secretly, often used to describe a scene with a living feel. Banana chips don’t have the same popularity as chocolate, so they’re quietly waiting for someone to pick them up.
The “お / o” in “お菓子 / okashi” and “お船 / ofune” is a prefix used to add a polite tone, often used in children’s speech.

“止まらない / tomaranai” is a phrase often used in snack commercials to imply that once you start eating, you can’t stop.
“こりゃ / korya” is a casual form of “これは / kore wa” (=this is), often used when someone is impressed by delicious food.

Looking at just the lyrics, it does seem fitting for a kids’ anime theme song.
I once got really into niche dried fruit snacks too, like mango or strawberry. Recently, I’ve been hooked on burdock root chips!
